About this ranking

Persons employed in the ICT sector as a percentage of total employment in the economy (national accounts).

More on how it is measured
  • The ICT sector follows the OECD definition: ICT manufacturing and ICT services, including telecommunications, software publishing and computer programming.
  • Eurostat, from structural business statistics and national accounts.

Counts everyone who works in ICT industries, including sales and administrative staff, and leaves out ICT specialists in other industries: ict_specialists_employment_share counts ICT occupations in every industry. Eurostat flags a break in 2021.

Every value in the ranking comes from the same publisher and the same period, so the EU countries are compared on one definition. 3 EU countries with data in other periods have no value for 2011 and are left out rather than filled from another source. Equal values share a rank.
