About this ranking
Meat from animals slaughtered in the country in the calendar year, all species, in tonnes of carcass weight. FAOSTAT item "Meat; Total", the sum FAO calculates from the meat of each species, imported live animals included.
Carcass weight, bone included, so it is higher than the boneless weight in consumption statistics. FAO fills gaps in national reporting with its own estimates and imputations, which are marked as estimated, and revises past years when countries send new figures.
Every value in the ranking comes from the same publisher and the same period, so the countries are compared on one definition. 4 countries with data in other periods have no value for 2017 and are left out rather than filled from another source. Equal values share a rank.
