About this ranking

Harmonised index of consumer prices for electricity, gas and other fuels for the home (COICOP 2018 group 04.5: electricity, gas, liquid and solid fuels and heat energy used in the dwelling), annual rate of change: the percentage change from the same month a year earlier. Monthly, comparable across EU countries (Eurostat).

Eurostat publishes the HICP under COICOP 2018 from the data for January 2026 and recalculated the category series back to 1997 on that basis, so figures for earlier years can differ from those first published under ECOICOP, by a lot for divisions 08 to 13. The headline rate for all items is hicp_annual_rate. Eurostat marks some back-calculated months as estimates.

Every value in the ranking comes from the same publisher and the same period, so the EU countries are compared on one definition. Equal values share a rank.
