About this ranking
Percentage of adults aged 18 and over with obesity, defined as a body mass index of 30 kg/m² or more, men only. Age-standardized to the WHO standard population, so countries with older or younger populations can be compared. Estimates of the NCD Risk Factor Collaboration (NCD-RisC), published by WHO, modelled from height and weight measured in national surveys.
Model estimates for every country and year, including years without a survey. A separate series from adult_obesity_rate, the CDC crude rate for US states from self-reported height and weight, which gives lower values than measurement. Values are served with every decimal WHO publishes. WHO revises these series, past years included, when new national reports or estimates come in, so values can change between retrievals.
Every value in the ranking comes from the same publisher and the same period, so the EU countries are compared on one definition. Equal values share a rank.
