Rankings

Definition

Nursing and midwifery personnel per 10,000 population: nursing and midwifery professionals and associate professionals (ISCO-08 codes 2221, 2222, 3221 and 3222), as reported to WHO's National Health Workforce Accounts, divided by the national population. Depending on the country's source, the count covers practising personnel only or everyone registered.

Includes associate professionals, so countries that train many nursing assistants show higher values. WHO revises these series, past years included, when new national reports or estimates come in, so values can change between retrievals.
