Private non-financial debt service ratio
BIS estimate of interest payments and principal amortisation of households, NPISHs and non-financial corporations as a percentage of income.
BIS modelled estimates from aggregate debt, income, interest rates and assumed remaining maturities. Includes interest and principal repayments. Better suited to tracking a country over time than comparing absolute levels between countries. Household and corporate coverage is narrower than total private-sector coverage. Household estimates include NPISHs and differ from the Federal Reserve household debt service ratio. Not seasonally adjusted.
