Extreme poverty rate ($3.00 a day, 2021 PPP)
Share of the population living on less than $3.00 a day at 2021 purchasing power parity (PPP) prices, the World Bank international poverty line since June 2025. Measured from household surveys of income or consumption per person. World Bank Poverty and Inequality Platform.
Country values exist only for survey years, and most countries measure consumption while others measure income, so rates are only roughly comparable. When the World Bank moves the line or the PPP base, the whole history is recalculated; earlier editions used $2.15 a day at 2017 PPP. Not the US official poverty rate (poverty_rate) or the EU at-risk-of-poverty rate (at_risk_of_poverty_rate).
