Retail e-commerce sales as a percentage of total retail sales in the United States, both seasonally adjusted, each quarter, as published by the Census Bureau.
More on how it is measured
- E-commerce sales are sales of goods and services where the buyer places the order, or the price and terms of sale are negotiated, over the Internet, an extranet, an EDI network, electronic mail or another online system; payment may or may not be made online.
- Retail trade businesses (NAICS 44 and 45) with paid employees, food services excluded.
Sales by retail businesses only: online sales of manufacturers, wholesalers, travel agencies and other service firms are not included. Not comparable with ecommerce_turnover_share, which covers enterprises with 10 or more persons employed in the EU. Values without the _nsa suffix are seasonally adjusted; the share is published rounded to one decimal.
