About this ranking
Average spending per trip by residents of the country aged 15 and over on tourism trips of one night or more, for personal or business reasons, to destinations in the country and abroad, excluding durable and valuable goods. Euro at current prices (Eurostat survey of tourism trips by residents).
Domestic trips are usually shorter and cheaper than trips abroad, so the average moves with the share of trips abroad. Day trips are not included. Countries outside the euro area report in their own currency and Eurostat converts the amounts to euro.
Every value in the ranking comes from the same publisher and the same period, so the EU countries are compared on one definition. 1 EU countries with data in other periods have no value for 2023 and are left out rather than filled from another source. Equal values share a rank.
