About this ranking
Statutory monthly minimum wage for all employees, converted by the ILO from national currency to 2021 international dollars with the World Bank's purchasing power parities for private consumption. Where the law sets an hourly or daily rate, the ILO converts it to a month (for example 40 hours times 4.33 weeks). Only general rates: a single national minimum wage, a national floor, the adult rate, or the SMIG in countries with separate agricultural and non-agricultural rates.
For comparing countries. Countries with regional, sectoral or occupational minimum wages (Japan, Canada, China, Switzerland, much of Central America) are left out, as are years for which the ILO does not state the type. For the amount in euros in EU countries use minimum_wage. The ILO revises these figures.
Every value in the ranking comes from the same publisher and the same period, so the countries are compared on one definition. 11 countries with data in other periods have no value for 2016 and are left out rather than filled from another source. Equal values share a rank.
