Youth unemployment rate, ages 16 to 24
Unemployed people aged 16 to 24 as a percentage of the civilian labour force in the same age group, from the US Current Population Survey. Seasonally adjusted monthly estimates.
National US series only. The survey excludes active-duty military personnel and people living in institutions. The denominator is the labour force, not all young residents. The age range differs from the existing European youth unemployment series, which covers ages 15 to 24. Past estimates can be revised.
