Vacant dwellings rate (Switzerland)
Vacant dwellings on 1 June as a percentage of the total dwelling stock, single-family houses included.
More on how it is measured
- A dwelling counts as vacant when it is habitable, offered for permanent rent or for sale and not occupied on 1 June; second homes count only if they are habitable all year and offered for permanent rent or sale.
- Swiss Federal Statistical Office, vacant dwellings count (Leerwohnungszählung).
The year is the year of the 1 June count. The dwelling stock is that of the previous 31 December from the federal register of buildings and dwellings since 2010, and an approximation before. It is not comparable with the US rental and homeowner vacancy rates, which use a survey and other definitions.
