Transportation energy expenditure
Spending on energy used to move people and goods: motor gasoline, diesel, jet fuel and other fuels bought in the state, and electricity for transport, in millions of current US dollars. U.S. Energy Information Administration, State Energy Data System (series TEACV).
Fuel is assigned to the state where it is sold, not where it is burned, so states with large airports or ports show high values. Millions of current US dollars, not adjusted for inflation. An EIA State Energy Data System estimate: consumption of each fuel times its estimated price. Hydro, wind and solar power have no fuel cost and count only through the electricity they produce. The latest year is about 18 months old, and EIA revises earlier years with each release.
