The value of private construction put in place for buildings and structures serving retail, wholesale, and selected service industries. The Census commercial classification also includes farm construction in the published commercial total.

Monthly value of private construction put in place, in current U.S. dollars. Census publishes the seasonally adjusted series at an annual rate and in millions of dollars; the annual rate is not a forecast and the estimates are not adjusted for price changes. This detailed category follows Census construction classifications and may be a component of a broader C30 total. The current month is preliminary and may be revised as more data arrive. Census publishes this aggregate as commercial, including farm construction; detailed types such as warehouses may be reported within the broader classification.
