Total US spending on health care goods and services, public health activities, administration and the net cost of health insurance, plus investment in medical research, structures and equipment, in USD billion.
National Health Expenditure Accounts definition: health consumption spending plus investment in research, structures and equipment, at current prices. It is broader than the OECD System of Health Accounts figure (health_expenditure_gdp, health_expenditure_per_capita_usd_ppp), which excludes investment; use those to compare countries. CMS revises earlier years with each annual release.
