Includes debt held by the public and by federal government accounts. Covers the federal government, not consolidated general-government debt under the Maastricht definition. Since 1977, fiscal years end on September 30; earlier fiscal years ended on June 30. The separate 1976 transition quarter is excluded. Historical ratios can be revised.
