Electricity retail revenue
Revenue from electricity sold to all ultimate customers: residential, commercial, industrial and transportation, in millions of current US dollars, as reported by utilities and other retailers to the U.S. Energy Information Administration on Form EIA-861.
Current dollars, not adjusted for inflation. Where customers buy energy from one company and delivery from another, both charges are counted. This is a revenue total, not an average price (see electricity_price_residential). Published in thousand dollars; shown in millions. From 1990 to 2002 the all-sector total includes an "other" sector (public street lighting, other public authorities and railways); from 2003 EIA reports these sales under commercial, industrial and a new transportation sector.
