Commercial energy expenditure
Spending on energy bought by the commercial sector: shops, offices, schools, hospitals, public buildings and other service establishments, in millions of current US dollars. U.S. Energy Information Administration, State Energy Data System (series TECCV).
Includes public street lighting and water and sewage services. Millions of current US dollars, not adjusted for inflation. An EIA State Energy Data System estimate: consumption of each fuel times its estimated price. Hydro, wind and solar power have no fuel cost and count only through the electricity they produce. The latest year is about 18 months old, and EIA revises earlier years with each release.
