- Definition: Deaths from [object Object] (ICD-10 A00 to Y89) per 100,000 inhabitants, age-standardised to the revised European Standard Population of 2013. Both sexes, all ages, by place of residence (Eurostat causes of death statistics).
- Note: For 2018 to 2021 Eurostat publishes the total under the code A-R_V-Y (all causes excluding S00 to T98, injury codes that are never an underlying cause); Invokely serves both codes as one series. For deaths per 1,000 people without age standardisation use crude_death_rate. Age standardisation removes the effect of different age structures, so EU countries and regions can be compared with each other. US age-adjusted rates use the 2000 US standard population and are not comparable with these. Death certification and cause coding differ between countries, and Eurostat flags some values as following a different definition. Eurostat publishes these rates about two and a half years after the reference year.
